Cleaning and Maintenance FAQs

Designflooring installation is complete. Now what?

Now that the floor is installed, do not wash it for 24 hours. Designflooring requires very little maintenance, but as durable and hardwearing as it is, the floor can still benefit from regular cleaning and care. For more information, see our cleaning and maintenance page.

How easy is it to clean and maintain Designflooring?

It has never been easier to clean and maintain Designflooring. We have developed an enhanced PU protective surface treatment which has been incorporated into our floors and offers outstanding slip, scuff and soiling resistance, resulting in an easier and more environmentally friendly regime for the cleaning and maintenance of the floor. Designflooring is very hardwearing and like any hard flooring, regular maintenance will enhance the beauty and durability of the floor.

Why is it important for me to use Designflooring's cleaning and maintenance products?

Some cleaning products contain agents that can damage the floor. To qualify for our product guarantee, we recommend that you use Designflooring's Cleaning and Maintenance system.

How can Designflooring Clean help protect against the coronavirus?

Our Designflooring Clean floor cleaner contains soap rather than disinfectant. Using Clean on your floor helps to break up and safely remove any germs that are on the surface, in the same way as using soap for washing your hands. As always, a regular clean is recommended to maintain hygiene.

All hard floors can be slippery when wet. Take extra care when cleaning and ensure the floor area is allowed to dry completely before use. During periods of wet weather, it may be necessary to put down extra matting to prevent water from being brought in from outside.

How do I remove scratches?

If surface scratching does appear, it is important to locate and address the cause of the problem. You can improve the appearance of light scratches by simply applying Designflooring Remove, wiping off the residue with a mop and rinsing thoroughly with clean water. You can then re-apply Refresh.

How should I protect Designflooring against furniture?

Refreshing the entire floor post-installation will help blend the new plank and existing floor together.

Will Designflooring stain?

Most common stains will not affect a Designflooring floor. However there are agents that can stain, such as solvent based liquids. The use of Designflooring Refresh will provide some protection against this type of damage.
